11. Write some New Year's Resolutions
Ask your child to start thinking about their New Year’s resolutions as we fast approach the new year. Reflecting on the past year and thinking about who we want to be next year is a great way to encourage children to set goals, make commitments and teaches them about self-love and positive affirmations
Encourage your child to think about how they felt about the last year. Some writing prompts might be:
‘’This year I have achieved…’’
‘’My favourite part about this year was…’’
‘’Next year I’d like to...’’
Once written down, ask them to sign and date their work and store their resolutions in a jar or ‘secret’ time capsule to then come back to it next year and reflect on everything they wrote. Not only is this great to look back on but will also give you a chance to see how their handwriting has improved in a year's time!
